Rehabilitation Engineering
Rehabilitation engineering is the clinical application of engineering principles to assist people with disabilities.
Tamar Rehabilitation Engineering Services was established by Colin Plumb in 2012 and is based in the Tamar Valley, on the Cornwall/Devon border. Whilst this location is ideally suited for clients living in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly and Devon, services can be provided within any of the southern counties as required.
Working as an independent Rehabilitation Engineer, specialising in wheelchair and special seating assessments, Colin brings a great deal of specialist knowledge and experience to this role.
Having originally completed a 4 year, fully indentured, MoD mechanical engineering apprenticeship, he qualified as a mechanical and production engineer before progressing into a specialist defence quality assurance role. A change of circumstances moved his career path to rehabilitation engineering and this developed into a 20 year career with NHS wheelchair and special seating services in London, Plymouth and South West Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Colin has extensive experience of working with and providing specialist assessments to people of all ages and with a wide range of complex postural and mobility needs. Assessments are very much tailored to the individual and where possible assessments fully involve family, carers and other professionals.
Tamar Rehabilitation Engineering Services provides technical and clinical support services to individuals, case management companies and legal deputies. Fees vary depending on geographical location, complexity and the overall aims of the intervention. Please contact for further information.
